Agnes MacPhail immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland to Baltimore, Maryland
in 1922. True to her Scottish roots, Agnes was a hard working young lass. Her dream? To one day run her own business. (Not exactly a practical ambition for a young immigrant woman in 1920s America.)
In 1929 she married my grandfather, Richard Bollinger. Sixteen years later she defied the odds and realized her dream by buying and managing the Chesapeake Hotel in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Her vision was simple: to provide a hotel and restaurant that offered clean and comfortable accommodations, great food, and friendly service.
My wife and I honor her pioneering ways by building on her vision and opening MacPhail’s: a family restaurant that serves the best burgers, fries and milk shakes (and a good,
cold, locally-brewed beer) anywhere!
We offer a clean, friendly environment we hope makes you feel right at home. Visit after visit, the food is consistently delicious and the service impeccable. MacPhail’s is a place we hope you’ll
want to tell all your friends about.
Thank you for joining us.
